Deans’ Technology Council (DTC)
Sponsor: Peter M. Siegel, Vice Provost for Information and Educational Technology
Status: Nominations from the deans were solicited in early May. The Deans Technology Council (DTC) was officially established on May 11, 2007. The group meets informally once a month.
Background:
The need to establish a group of campus information technology experts who can represent, as formal dean representatives, the perspectives and needs of their academic units was discussed at a School, College, and Division (SCD) Deans meeting in Winter 2007. The UC Davis Deans’ Technology Council was established with that goal in mind.
Charge:
The Deans’ Technology Council serves as a collegial group of academic technology leads who get together with Vice Provost-IET Pete Siegel and other colleagues once a month for candid discussions of needs, projects, priorities (from a dean’s office perspective) and opportunities as they relate to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, research, the student experience, and other issues of importance and relevance to the schools and colleges.
In particular, the group will help implement the peer review component of the soon-to-be-adopted campus policy for development and review of administrative computing systems, and provide a venue for early thinking about projects, technology plans, and proposals. In meeting these objectives, this group will be a critical contributor to the development of a common vision that will guide campus IT investments.
Meetings will be held monthly and will be joined by IET senior management and technical content experts according to specific agenda items.
Support for the Deans’ Technology Council is provided through the office of the Vice Provost-IET.
